Dino Gala w/Sweet Petunia + Hello Shark

  • The Dance Hall 7 Walker Street Kittery, ME, 03904 United States (map)

Allston based indie rock quartet, Dino Gala, is well known for their air-tight musicianship and tense but curiously melodic sound. They are making waves in the New England indie scene and beyond. They are breaking the mold for Boston DIY artists, achieving a debut, an East Coast tour with Boston band Raavi & the Houseplants and the accumulation of over 30,000 TikTok followers since April. With their newest single, “British,” releasing on February 18th, the emo-indie band’s success is only trending at an upward trajectory.

Sweet Petunia, established in 2018, is a queer alt folk duo from Boston, MA composed of Mairead Guy (they/them) and Madison Simpson (she/her). Over the past five years they’ve broken hearts all across the US from Richmond to Chicago to San Francisco. They’ve been praised for their haunting, interchanging harmonies, and their ability to bring to life something as mundane as catching a stranger’s eye in a poetic ode, to the love that can be found in the smallest of places. They answer the often begged question, “is one banjo enough?” with a resounding “no!” as they switch through combinations of double banjo, double guitar, and guitar and banjo, singing all the while.

Hello Shark is the recording project of songwriter Lincoln Halloran, known for his enigmatically personal songwriting. Beginning in Vermont in 2006, Hello Shark’s music is characterized most by the honest and melancholy nature of Halloran’s writing, paired with a knack for melody and crushing delivery. Hello Shark stands as one of the most influential yet misprized artists in today’s indie/lo-fi scene.
