Directed and shot by Amanda Kowalski, a New Hampshire resident and active musician, “the Alliance” is a documentary film about conflict at sea and the challenges of doing science. A team of international scientists, led by oceanographer Bob Pickart (chief scientist), set out to collect incredibly rare data during the winter storm season in the Arctic Ocean. They thought their biggest challenge would be the weather; it proved to be something else entirely.
